Apple AirPods 2 sales below expectations
Apple is by far leading in wireless headphones with AirPods and its variants. The first generation AirPods still holds the attention. AirPods 2 could not be reflected in the graphics.
Bringing the AirPods to the so-called true wireless headset, Apple soon achieved great dominance. In recent months, the AirPods 2 was quietly released, but was not effective.
Apple still dominates the market
According to research conducted by Counterpoint Research, wireless headset class reached 17.5 million sales in the first quarter of the year. It is stated that there was an increase of around 40 percent compared to the last quarter of last year.
The first generation AirPods made sales over 50 percent. However, the AirPods 2 did not make significant progress. Experts say there is high interest in the first generation AirPods, despite the release of the next generation.
In this class, the Samsung Galaxy Buds achieved a sales rate of around 10 percent. Just behind the Jabra Elite Active 65t, comes around 8 percent. Many giants such as Google could not find a place for itself in the top 10 products. In general, brands such as Bose and JBL, the senior players in the audio market, sell more.
The AirPods 2 came with additional features such as the more efficient W1 audio chip, Siri support, wireless rechargeable case, and raised expectations. It is a question of how much the product will sell in the second quarter of the year.
